Master of Engineering Science (Petroleum Engineering)

This comprehensive course will provide you with a multidisciplinary education and hands-on training in petroleum engineering. You will cover a wide variety of subjects central to the petroleum engineering field, including applied geology and geophysics, drilling and reservoir engineering, hydrocarbon phase behaviour, formation evaluation, petroleum economics and project management.
In your final semester you will complete an individual research project and develop a thesis under the guidance of one of our highly experienced staff.
To assist your studies, we will provide you with access to top of the range computer hardware and software, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ online information library.
Admission criteria for Australian and New Zealand students
- Recognised four-year bachelor degree with honours, preferably in a petroleum engineering discipline, with excellent academic standing. You must also demonstrate considerable research experience in areas relevant to upstream petroleum engineering, OR
- Master of Petroleum Engineering with high academic standing. Applicants via this pathway will be eligible for credit for recognised learning for all common units.
Entry into this course is competitive.

Fees are indicative first year only.
* Based on a first-year full-time study load of 200 credits. 400 credits are needed to graduate from this course. The total cost will depend on your course options (i.e. units selected and time taken to complete).
Students may apply for student membership of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (U.S). Upon graduation you may apply for active membership of the society.
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
