In this course you will take a series of coursework units which deal with modern methodologies in mining and mine environmental geomechanics.
If you did not complete honours in your undergraduate degree you can use this course as an entry pathway to the master-level course.
Graduates may become geotechnical specialists or well-informed managers in the resources sector. Careers for geotechnical specialists include in-house specialists in mining and petroleum companies, consultants, academics, researchers and technical specialists for mining related organisations.

Applicants should meet one of the following sets of requirements:
- a four-year bachelor degree in engineering plus at least two years of industrial experience;
- a bachelor degree in mining engineering with a Mine Managers Certificate of Competency; or
- a three-year bachelor degree or a graduate diploma in mining plus at least two years of industrial experience.
1-2 years part-time
Units are provided in a block release format where students undertake up to four units over an intensive three week period.
