In this course you will be given the flexibility to choose from a wide range of coursework and project units in fundamental and applied geoscience to suit your interests and future career needs. Projects usually reflect the research interests of staff and include studies such as igneous and metamorphic petrology, geochronology, structural geology, coal petrology, environmental geochemistry, sedimentology, petroleum geology, micropalaeontology and hydrogeology.

The course also provides advanced technical and professional training for those intending to upgrade their geology qualifications or retrain in a new branch of geoscience. Streams are available in Basin Analysis and Petroleum Geology and Mineral Exploration and Mining Geology.

You must have at least a three-year bachelor of science degree in geology or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution, or have completed a graduate diploma in this field of study.
