Course overview

This major introduces you to accounting principles, auditing, taxation, relevant areas of business law and financial management. You can examine the development and communication of information relating to the financial performance of organisations, learn to prepare reports and give advice on an organisation’s record-keeping and compliance requirements.  

You may have an opportunity to join an extra-curricular program in association with an accounting firm.

Accounting is offered as part of the Bachelor of Commerce. You can enhance your studies with a secondary major or choose from a range of elective units to support your career goals.

Professional recognition

Those completing accounting will be eligible to apply for admission to the CA program of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand and/or the CPA Program of CPA Australia.

Credit for previous study

If you have previously worked or studied in this field, you may be eligible for Credit for Recognised Learning (CRL).

If you are eligible, you may be exempt from completing some units, and you may be able to finish your degree in a shorter amount of time.
