This postgraduate accounting course is suitable if you have previously completed an accounting degree recognised by CPA Australia. The program enables you to build the advanced skills and knowledge to provide high-level advice to management and governing bodies, and to undertake leadership positions within the workplace. The main areas of study in this course include corporate governance, financial accounting, and management accounting.

In this course, you may concurrently enrol in the professional level of the CPA Program with CPA Australia. You can receive tuition from experienced academics for the CPA Program professional-level, to prepare you for the external CPA Program examinations.

Similar courses are offered by Universities in the Eastern states. The minimum duration of their courses is 2.5 years. Our course is only 2 years, which can be reduced to 1.5 years if 100 points of credit for recognised learning is granted.

Admission criteria

Admission criteria for Australian and New Zealand students

A CPA accredited bachelor degree, majoring in accounting.  Applicants must also meet Curtin's English language proficiency requirements.

Note: If you have a bachelor degree in a discipline other than accounting, you should consider the Master of Commerce (Professional Accounting) instead.

Fees for Australian and New Zealand students

2018 Domestic fee paying Domestic fee-paying - A domestic fee-paying place is a place at university which is not Commonwealth supported, that is, not subsidised by the Australian Government. Domestic fee paying students will be charged tuition fees and may be eligible for FEE-HELP assistance for all or part of those tuition fees. $27,500*

* Based on a first-year full-time study load of 200 credits. 400 credits are needed to graduate from this course. The total cost will depend on your course options (i.e. units selected and time taken to complete).

Credit for previous study

Applications for credit for recognised learning (CRL) are assessed on an individual basis.

With your recognised accounting degree, you may be eligible for up to 100 points of credit for recognised learning.

Note: If you wish to do the CPA Program, you must be enrolled in the CPA Program administered by CPA Australia. You must also register for and sit the CPA Australia exams. You are responsible for all CPA Program fees including CPA Program segment exam fees.

In order to enrol in the CPA Program, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are qualified and able to meet the requirements for associate membership for CPA Australia.
